Social Justice

At Temple Israel, we believe that social justice should be woven into the fabric of Jewish life. Whether we do social justice through prayer, study, or by our actions, we constantly seek ways to make the world a more just and equitable place.

Everyone can have a role in social justice. We can challenge ourselves and each other to approach situations in new ways, finding opportunities to break boundaries between people and find new perspectives. Whether it's taking a class with the Rabbis to study Jewish texts that guide us through the most difficult moral quandaries, speaking out when we witness oppression, or showing up in solidarity -- we all can play an essential role and we can do it together.

The Torah itself challenges us, “Justice, justice shall you pursue!”  And it's up to us as Jews to take part.
